Despite the fact that I’m redeye-ing back to NYC, feeling so energized by another amazing Hipower offsite in beautiful Santa Cruz.I’m sure that many of us can agree it’s been a long year, and nothing is more refreshing and inspirational than spending a few days with this #community of incredible #women. If you know me, you know that I’m a skeptic, and there’s a lot of “women’s leadership” programs/groups/spaces/events out there, but Hipower is truly special, in its #authenticity, accountability, and mission.Intrigued my friends? So much to unpack from Evan Shapīro’s excellent analysis (and I’m slightly biased because of my many years at YouTube), but it’s really quite simple:Your content must be available where and when users want to watch. Instead of trying to control the perceived “value” of that content through walled gardens, which ultimately reach so few, allow the audience to assign value with their eyeballs across the ecosystem.This is not cannibalization, this is liberation, because you’re now free to super serve each of those distribution channels, which have different tools, audiences, and economics.And in return, the rich signals, #data, insights you receive in exchange make your #content even more effective, and maximize #monetization potential.
