We have recently returned from a a transatlantic cruise on Anthem of the seas. We stayed in a balcony cabin on deck 8 cabin 8172. Take a look at our photo tour of our cabin on the Anthem which we stayed in on our transatlantic cruise.

A bit about Anthem of the Seas

Review and Tour of Our Balcony Cabin on Anthem of the Seas - Cruising For All (2)

Anthem of the Seas is an Odyssey class ship, she launched in 2015 and has not yet had a refurb. She holds 4180 passengers and was revolutionary when she launched. She has been designed with a large meeting space for conferences and lots of onboard activities.

You can experience skydiving in the RipCord by iFLY skydiving simulator. Sail above the ship on jewel-shaped North Star capsule that ascends more than 300 feet above sea level, or even ride bumper cars in the Seaplex.

She is still a new looking ship with plenty of things to do on board we loved her. She’s slightly different to other Royal Caribbean cruise ships in style with a more intimate layout.

Cabin 8172 on Anthem first look

Cabin 8172 on the Anthem of the Seas is located on the port side, mid ship. It is called an Ocean View Balcony stateroom which sleeps 3. It was in a nice position on the ship mid ship and portside. Here is what was in our cabin;

It has a large bed which has two twin beds that convert to a Royal King. The private balcony area has two seats , two footstools and a table. There is a sitting area with sofa and a dressing table area with plugs and a stool. There is no table to get in the way in the living area but a side board with a mini fridge and drawers. There is a bathroom with shower vanity area an interactive flat-screen TV, mini-safe radio telephone and hairdryer.

Plugs in Anthem State Balcony Room

Cabin on Anthem of the Seas have both European and US plug sockets. There were 2 US 120v plug sockets on the dressing area. There was 1 European 220-240 volt plug on the dressing area. There were two USB sockets as well.

You will also find one US plug on one side of the bed

Dressing Table area

The dressing table area is near the balcony, which is good for doing your makeup and hair in more natural light. There was a ring light around the mirror for when it was darker.

There is also a hairdryer Supplied for a US plug which is fine for you have thinner or short hair. If you have thick hair or naturally curly hair you may need to take your own to use a diffuser. If you bring a European hairdryer these will work in the EU plug socket.

Storage Area in Balcony Cabin

There is so much storage we didn’t use it all of it we have some drawers empty! There were two wardrobe’s one had double hanging space and coat hangers. One had a narrower hanging space to accommodate the locker and shelves. There was over the bed storage and 4 large drawers near the dresser.

There was a fridge near the vanity unit. The room did not have very large Bedside tables or a drawer under the dresser so I found the table quite cluttered.

The Bathroom on Anthem of the Seas Balcony

The bathroom was well designed with corner storage shelves and shelves in the shower. The bathroom felt spacious and the corner shower felt bigger than it looked with a curved door.

The shower did had a shower and hair gel which is ok but but I would take your own as it wasn’t very moisturising. There were no other toiletries In the bathroom such as, conditioner and body lotion. I don’t think this is a cut back Royal should have made, as it is something I would expect in a quality hotel.

Towels were changed once a day if we left them on the floor.

Anthem of the Seas Balcony

We had a standard balcony which were a good size, it had 2 chairs, footstools and a small side table. There was plenty of room to put your feet up, watch the views and chill out for a little quiet time in the sun.

Room service on Anthem of the Seas Balcony Cabin.

Our Cabin attendant was very good, however our cabin was cleaned and turned only once a day. You could choose morning or afternoon. I really did miss the night time turn down but felt we needed the day so we could shower aging with fresh towels at night.

We did however see some towel animals which we have previously missed on other cruises. It is great for kids but I would prefer the time to be spent elsewhere.

We had to ask for a planner to be delivered to our room each day which after the first few days always came on time.

They have a laundry service which we did not use on this occasion but you can check out this cabin post for the prices.

Room Service on our Anthem Balcony

We have a fullpost on room service; however, these are the room service menus from Anthem of the Seas.

Breakfast is included, but you can upgrade to a cooked breakfast for $7.95 plus gratuity per cabin. We had continental breakfast one morning, and it was wonderful to sit on our balcony and enjoy breakfast.

You can also order meals to your room almost any time of day. We never ordered lunch or dinner; however, it is an excellent menu with lots of choices for $7.95 plus gratuities per cabin. However this is a great option for families with kiddies who want a chill night.
