- Our nursing degrees are accredited by theNursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). This professional recognition means you’ll be eligible to register and practice as a nurse when you graduate
- BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) and BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health) are available on September and January starts at both our Derby Campus and Chesterfield Site with both sites offering you the same exceptional health care learning facilities
- For September 2024, we've introduced a range of MSci courses. These are integrated masters courses, suitable for undergraduate students without a prior degree, who wish to study two fields of nursing (such as Adult and Child Nursing combined) or additional leadership skills (such as Adult Nursing and Leadership or Mental Health Nursing and Leadership)
- Practical experience is a hallmark of our courses. Drawing on our flourishing employer links, we offer work placements in a broad spectrum of health and social care settings
- OurClinical Skills Suiteis built to professional standards and is a safe environment for you to develop the competences that you’ll need to thrive in your career. The suite includes a replica ward, counselling rooms and a treatment room, all fully equipped with the latest clinical resources
- Our Immersive Interactive Simulation Suite replicates a range of different scenarios that nurses may find themselves working in, from the back of an ambulance to an operating theatre or anaesthetic room. You’ll be ‘immersed’ into different environments to gain a greater understanding of the varied pressures you’ll encounter and the range of factors you’ll need to consider when working in different spaces

Our nursing degrees and foundation degree are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and approved to the NMC's Future nurse: Standards of proficiency for registered nurses. This professional recognition means you’ll be eligible to register and practice as a nurse or nursing associate when you graduate. Our exceptional employment record shows that our nursing graduates are in high demand and go onto work in a wide variety of clinical settings. In addition, our extensive continuing professional development short courses and modules are available to qualified health care professionals.
Florence Nightingale Foundation Academy Member
The University of Derby has become the very first Higher Education Institution to join theFlorence Nightingale Foundation Academy as a member.
The Foundation’s principal focus is on improving health, clinical outcomes and patient experience, through building nursing and midwifery leadership capacity and capability.Our Nursing and Midwifery students will therefore have the opportunity tocontribute to policy consultations, gain opportunities for elective placements, and enjoy access to leadership programmes including Nightingale Frontline, a peer group coaching service.
