Our First on NCL. Won't be our Last

We started off with a port already cancelled-- Tortola. The reason was ridiculous that we were given. We wanted to cancel but we were told that NCL can cancel ports if needed. BUT with a bit of research it looks like NCL was doing work on one of the engines. They had mechanical issues with the ship and we could not cancel-- Which means a slow moving ship. We just got off the Breakaway and here are my thoughts. The pool deck closes at 730 PM, they literally strap the chairs on top of each other so that there is no place to sit and enjoy the evening on deck at night. They also close the bars on deck at 8PM forcing you to go to the casino or the atrium. The food was mediocre at best. The service and customer service was terrible. I paidd $199.00 X two

First off we booked the Eastern Caribbean cruise to not go to the same places. Due to the dates this cruise fit the bill when we booked it back in Feb. come x thirty days before the cruise NCL said because of fuel economy and prices they took out BVI Tortola port and added a sea day at 4 kts all the way back to our last stop of Exuma private island. No breeze on boat it’s horrible on any sundeck.

Lack of food options is impressive. They don’t even have a pizza place. Becomes a food dessert at 9 pm. Only options in a “late night” restaurant include: sauerkraut, chili as a meal, and hot dog. Not even chicken fingers or pizza. Only things will make your gut feel worse than it already does from whatever hospital like food you ate earlier. Large portion of casinos slot machines don’t work

This was our second sailing on The Breakaway. We were disappointed. The main dining rooms all had the same menu each night. So you couldn’t switch to another one since it was the same menu. The specialty restaurants were excellent. They had only one show at night Burn The Floor for the 1st two nights and then comedians that were ok for the rest of the entertainment. Deal or No Deal is

I have recently seen lots of bad reviews of the Breakaway, and wanted to add a more positive one.The Good: Although the ship is older and showing some wear, we found everything to be very clean. There was always someone cleaning, polishing, and sweeping the elevator lobbies and stairwells, etc. We did experience the issue with our toilet not working one day, but a quick call to housekeeping

The Breakaway is a very well maintained ship, but passenger capacity is over 4,000 so the pool areas were extremely crowded with no lounge chairs available unless you go down to claim a chair around 8 a.m. Entertainment: shuffleboard and outdoor chess was popular. The breakaway is a beautiful ship. The crew made sure it was clean, however our room attendant did not do a good job. We got an inside cabin for 4 and it was insanely small. We have had inside rooms but this was by the far the smallest. The food was okay. We were disappointed because Shanghaiss never had any availability. Cabin: Very quiet, only heard noise from our neighbors because they used their balcony consistently. View down was of the lifeboats. Not on the same side as the piers to watch the late runners. Balconies were small compared to other ships we have been on. Bathroom was nice and big, but do not think the “Club” aspect was worthwhile. The trip was great, the food was good but not always served at a proper temperature. The staff were mostly outstanding. My only complaint is minor issues with the upkeep of the ship. Everything was clean however there were some signs of poor upkeep. We paid for the thermal suite package (our first time splurging on this) which we thoroughly enjoyed however, there were a couple of pumps in the jet
