I have made these for years and we just love them. They are so delicate and mouthwatering I can’t imagine anyone not liking them. I found the recipe in a church recipe book. We always made them about the size of a button and used a toothpick to poke four holes in them. I may not wait till Christmas this year. Thanks for sharing your recipe…it is a keeper that’s for sure.

I’ve been making these since I was I kid. My mom has the recipe that came from her Betty Crocker recipe cards from 1973. As I got older and making them on my own, I have found many cookie cutter shapes and use this recipe for all kind of occasions. Coloring the frosting accordingly. They are my favorite!

Butter or margarine? For the cookie batter. I know some older recipes call for margarine and in step one you say margarine though in the ingredients you say butter. Thanks for the insight.

Hi June. I didn’t add any food coloring — the icing is a white color naturally.

I have been making these cookies for about 50 years, my family calls them angel cookies!
