Sign us up for the Ally Pally...Well not quite, but it was great to be a winner alongside Richard Stoddart at the Manchester darts championship. Of course I'm exaggerating. It was a healthy competition between friends and colleagues at the very new Black Cat Club (highly recommend) after a long day our Redmoor Health exec team had together in the city. I've known and worked with Richard for yonks and of course we made a great team 😁 We also play golf together, joined by Marc Schmid. In my case I use the term 'play golf' very loosely 😂 But why is it important to socialise with colleagues?😊 enhances teamwork, if we feel connected to our colleagues we're more cooperative and collaborative which can lead to us being more effective and efficient😎 it breaks down formal barriers and gives us a more relaxed environment to communicate more openly. 😊 it helps to build a network of supportive colleagues 🤔 it's an opportunity to share ideas and thoughts that might not be discussed in formal meetings or a business environment, helping us all to be more innovative😊 it can make the workplace more enjoyable, meaning we're more likely to feel engaged and positive about our role😊 you can make new friends for life - plenty of my ex-colleagues are full-time friendsA positive culture at an organisation is crucial. Many people spend more time with colleagues than anyone else, often under pressure and in stressful situations. Technical skills and knowledge will only get you so far!!For all my connections who work in performance sports, I would strongly recommend the work that Richard Husseiny is doing. For too long in my career, I focused solely on developing my technical skills as a coach. I needed to be open to the human in the room and how I was showing up as a person. Looking back, I wish I had invested more time and energy into this area. I see this being repeated in companies' leadership training: they focus on models and leadership styles and do not incorporate humans into the equation. Technical skills are essential, but adding the human element will improve us as coaches/leaders and the people around us.

And the winner of Strictly 2024 is … 🕺🏻Not even 2 years old yet and he’s got moves like jagger already, and yes those are his dads dance moves which he is nailing perfectly by the way 💪The confidence of this boy to make his way across the dance floor throwing shapes for everyone to see is beyond belief 😳It makes you wonder about how we can apply this to our work life 🤔 I really really wanted to follow him around to make sure he was ok and not worried about what’s going on, but he just nailed it doing it his way While I’m away on this wonderful break to I’ve left the day to day in the very capable hands of my number 2. Yes ive done a few bits while Theo has naps or after bedtime but it’s been mostly my own stuff. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜During my second ski season I broke my back and missed half the season including major POW dump.💔❄️ 5 years later working at LinkedIn we got offered the magic to work from abroad.When my friend called if I wanted to come over to the extended home town in #Saalbach there was no doubt.I convinced my manager that I could manage 2 books of business, whilst being on a PIP, and do this thing. 😏 (Taking solely 1 business call from the ski lift - Suzanne Danen the honor is yours 😉).𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝?..📢I absolutely crushed the quarter AND hit both targets that half year (that's 2 fulltime jobs!!)📢I was happier + healthier than ever AND more productive.📢 I became bffs with my furious client who insisted to have another AD.📢I won the award: Best AD SMB EMEA out of 7 teams.📢 I won the award: Best transformation.📢I got nominated for a third award: Best customer value.📢Got a promoted to Mid Market the following Q.📢Dropped in an incredible employer branding shot that took off.📢Taken a referral call from the slopes.📢Felt rich. 😂📢Reunited with 2 of my best mates, who I waved bye in (tears) New Zealand just before the boarders closed down.💖Became a better skier and won back my dream.Any objections here? Last week - the Valiant Events team headed off to Hobart for our new financial year conference. We spent four days, learning, sharing and laughing a lot. Spending this time with my team; three things really stood out about the incredible people that make up the Valiant team:Bravery - while sharing our personal branding pathways; I learnt so much about the brave decisions and scenarios each and everyone of the team have faced in their own ways. All of us have made bold choices and overcome many hurdles to end up together in that room in Hobart - and it was incredibly inspiring. Vulnerability - the entire team presented their true selves and were so open and honest with their stories, their strengths and their struggles. Above all else; it makes me incredibly proud to be a part of fostering an environment that allows the team to feel as though they can be their authentic self. Friendship - Every minute we spent together can only be described as joyful. Cliché as it sounds; or connections in so many ways surpass that of collages. There were so many laughs and so much support. I am excited knowing that in my team I know I have friends for life. In four days - I really understand we have something special. The Valiant - Hire with Style point of difference at it's core is our people. When you work with our teams, you are working with Brave, Authentic and Experienced individuals; that have a passion for what they do; and are extremely invested in seeing you succeed.
